UNKLE return one last time to two of the standout singles from Rōnin I, giving them a new twist courtesy of one of the most respected and sought after remixers on the planet. London based French native Nicolas Laugier AKA The Reflex takes 'Do Yourself Some Good' and 'If We Don't Make It', both BBC Radio 6Music A-Listed singles, and adds his own magic touch to proceedings.
Kicking things off with Do Yourself Some Good, The Reflex leans into the arpeggiated synths, before the silky smooth disco beat hits, with the track slowly building as the temperature rises and the bassline and vocal samples come in. The track keeps up the pace through to the end, through to a gentle crescendo.
If We Don't Make It is an altogether more laidback affair, with new layers of percussion having been brought to the forefront here. With added warmth and depth, it is the perfect encapsulation of why The Reflex is the king of the disco edit. Both tracks feature bass guitar by Johnny Copland (of Marcos Valle's touring band).
